KONGASIS CHRISTIAN EDUCATION CENTER – DECEMBER 2008 REPORT
P.O BOX 255, KERICHO – 20200.  KENYA

Dear friends,
First, may I wish you a very wonderful Christmas and a Prosperous New Year, 2009. We in Kenya are particularly concerned that next year be nothing like this year. We began this year with post election violence which was instigated by flawed election results. The aftermath of violence has resulted in many displaced people still living in camps, inflation, resulting in high costs for petrol and food.  All this has increased poverty among the ordinary people.

At KACECE we are grateful that in spite of all this we are able to report some positive and encouraging developments.  We thank God for His blessing this year.  In particular, our enrollment at Kongasis Primary School reached its highest level yet - 146 students. With your support we were able to partially sponsor 54 students and fully sponsored 8 students.

We were also blessed with visitors as mentioned in the September 2008 report. We are happy to report that the Kongasis Women’s Group benefited from the visit of Dr. Bill and Joanne Calla’s organization, Joining Hearts and Hands, Ltd. which provided start up funds for the school uniform project.

The project is expected to help the women learn to run their own small business and generate income to use to help their children get a better education and to improve their lives. As this project develops we will keep you informed.

Kongasis leadership training picOn October 28th – 1st November we hosted a very successful leadership seminar that was facilitated by Dr. Rich Frazer, the President of SOS International, from La Quita, California. SOS International trains and equips leaders all over the world in the area of Christian leadership, church planting, discipleship, evangelism, family ministries, community leadership and women’s ministries, among others. We are grateful SOS International accepted KACECE’s invitation to come.

The community leadership training was an eye opener for the leaders. The experience gained has left both civic and Christian leaders united with one goal of serving God’s people.

The church leaders saw how their lack of cooperation among them and their churches was destroying the church of Christ. It also changed individuals, especially men, by showing them how to provide godly leadership in their families.

The Kongasis leadership training 2KACECE community will never be the same after the seminar. Kongasis leadership training prayer timeAs a result, we are organizing a youth seminar later this year to equip the youth with leadership and survival skills.
