1924-2007 Rev. Henry E. (Hank) Jones was Founder and President of Spiritual Overseers Service International. Hank was a former Marine who, after his retirement in 1961 served as Pastor of a Southern California church and as a missionary in the South Pacific. He and his wife, Marjorie, lived in Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City), South Vietnam for five years establishing the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ in that country while serving the military. When Vietnam closed, Hank became the Area Coordinator for Oceania-South Pacific and simultaneously, with the growing work in South Vietnam, coordinated the expansion of CCC Ministry in Oceania-South Pacific. While directly responsible for beginning the ministry of CCC in fifteen countries, he arranged for and supervised the translation and printing of evangelism and discipleship material of CCC into twenty-six languages; trained national Christian leaders, selected nationals for staff assignments, and superintended the new ministries. After serving overseas for over eight years, he returned to the United States and founded Spiritual Overseers Service (S.O.S.) International Corporation. Hank founded SOS International with the vision of inviting gifted, experienced, and mature leaders overseas to equip and train Christian leaders of other countries. He earned the right to invite anybody anywhere by personally fulfilling SOS’ mission throughout poverty-stricken and dangerous regions of the world. As a result, SOS has impacted untold multitudes of people in the name of Jesus Christ. Hank and Marjorie (also a former Marine) were married in 1953. Marjorie is still active as one of SOS International’s Board Members. |
